Pamukkale
(Cotton Castle in Turkish) is a beautiful and spectacular natural
site, unique in the world. It consisits of
different colors and shapes in the form of terraces with pools,
overhanging surfaces and fascinating stalactite formations.
Pamukkale
has always been a very popular settlement where the hot springs
were believed to have healing powers, so the city became the center
of a pagan cult in antiquity. This explains proximity of the ancient
city of Hierapolis to Pamukkale. The largest cemetery in the world
with more than 1200 graves is worth visiting in Hierapolis.
